Work In Progress

I've ostensibly completed the semester now that grades are turned in, but the show that goes into tech in a week is still in production. This is going to be one of those that feels done and taken care of until the notes start pouring in after each tech run. I'm dreading it. I have, however, got a new project to consume my free time, not that I was in danger of having too much free time. I'm into the fourth chapter of a story I'm writing, and I feel pretty good about this idea. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking it's the greatest tale since Hunger Games or anything. I'm just saying I'm having fun writing again, which I haven't done in a while.

The BF has been here for three weeks, which is the longest consecutive period of time we've ever spent together and has been relatively good (though I think we'll both enjoy some time apart this next week). He's returning to watch the dog for me once tech starts on the show. He's also on-board with helping to create something like the tree chandelier in the photo for me to have as a feature fixture in my large sitting room. I think it would look smashing, but maybe not everyone's cup of tea when it comes to selling the house someday. There's currently a rather builder-grade ceiling fan light there at present, but I hardly ever have used it. There are also plans to build me some cold frames next to the greenhouse, but the constant rain for the week has put a hold on that.

Also on hold is booking the hotel for London. The BF, to my surprise, went ahead and booked his flights for the trip so I guess he is coming with my parents and I in December. The hotel, however, is pretty expensive right now so we're hoping to see the price go down. This may have a lot to do with when or if the restrictions in the UK on tourist travel are lifted. I check it every day.

I managed to bang in the Wisteria right before the rains hit, and the Calycanthus has opened large, maroon blooms while everything else suffers from constant damp. I'll be lucky not to be fighting leaf mildew after this week. The french drain that I put in on the other side of the path from the enclosure bed has been no match for the sheer amount of water so the path is a wreck again. Oh well, it's back to the drawing board on that one.
