Green In All Weathers

Just a quick update to say that it's been too wet to photograph the growing garden properly, and I still haven't cut down the oversized raised veg bed, but I have been improving the interior of the house. First of all I replaced all of the builder-grade pewter-colored knobs in the kitchen with lovely copper flower design ones. These currently look awful against the caramel (again, builder-grade) wood of the cabinets, but those are getting painted sometime this summer. You can see all of the different swatches taped to them to help me decide. For a while the ironically-named 'Mattasaurus rex' was in the lead, but in the end I went with one called something like 'Natural baize' which is an appropriate textile reference. It's got enough blue not to be yellow at all, but enough lightness to be bright.

I tested this out by re-doing the cabinet in the master bath, which is the same, and which I am trying to overhaul into more of a spa retreat style, as hard as that is. I'll have to do a full update on the bathroom remodel when it is complete, but for now you can just see how the new color looks. Clearly it's a work in progress and the painting here is still not finished, but it's a start. In some lights it looks very aqua blue, and in others a bit gray, but mostly it looks a whole lot better than that bland tan leather color.
